The Source of All Truth

Where does truth come from?

There are many voices, interpretations, views, traditions, beliefs of religion in the world.   And because they are so different, they cannot all be true.   And yet logic tells us there must be an absolute truth about religion as there is about science or any other reality.  Which begs the questions:  Where does truth come from?  How can I find the truth?

The simple answer to this question is that truth comes from God.  In fact, throughout all ages of time God has revealed truth to men of faith.  Faith is required for God to communicate with men (and women) and even work miracles through them.   These men are called prophets because God can reveal to them the past, present or future.  God also reveals His will, His commandments and His purposes to these men.  Prophet use the phrase “Thus saith the Lord” when the Lord wants to give the people a message or commandment.  Ancient scriptures indicate that there are hundreds of prophets, Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses Elijah, Peter, James, John, Paul and many, many others.

One of the most well known prophets is Moses.   Moses was a prophet leader who was the mouth-piece for God for the children of Israel.  When God wanted to give the people a message or commandment He gave it through Moses.  God gave the people what is known as the ten commandments which are still accepted today.

Truth is like a jigsaw puzzle and every religion has a few pieces of the puzzle.   But when a prophet of God has been called who can ask God and receive answers.  More pieces of the puzzle can be added, until a large picture of the truth can be clearly seen.   Even so, the puzzle is not complete and won’t be complete until all truth is revealed.

When God speaks to prophets, they can teach us the truth that God wants us to know.   Prophets then become witnesses of God.  When prophets record the words of God down in written form, they become known as the Holy Scriptures or God’s Word.  God has always spoken to His prophets.  This has always been His method to communicate to man on Earth.  There have been periods of time when God has not spoken to men on Earth -- times of wickedness and void of faith.    The prophet Amos said: “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: (Amos 8:1)  Famines are only temporary, when faith revives again, God again speaks to His prophets.

God has always used this method to reveal truth to man.  Our Heavenly Father loves us today just as much as He loved the people in ancient times   We need the words of a living prophet to clear up questions about religious truth.  Paul said, there is “One Lord, one faith, one baptism”  (Ephesians 4:5) and  “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)  There is only one absolute truth and we need to find out what that is.   That is why we must listen to the words and testimonies of the Prophets.  Religious truth can only come from God.

The wonderful thing about this is our Heavenly Father wants us to know the purpose of life and will answer our personal prayers as we humbly seek the truth.
